Our Story
A Borgata Salon’s roots were firmly planted in Prescott when Jan Stauffer opened her first salon here in 1993.
Master Stylist Jan Stauffer quickly became well-known in Prescott for her inimitable personality and holistic approach to cosmetology. With the 1993 debut of her first salon, Great Hair West, Jan attracted quite the following around the Quad-Cities region, even as her salon changed locations and names several times over the years.
Jan settled permanently on “A Borgata" (Italian for “a gathering place”) with her salon's move to Sheldon Street in 2005. After six years in that location, Jan was invited to bring A Borgata Salon to the Prescott Resort in 2011, where it remained for the next decade.
Jan’s daughters followed her lead, becoming Master Stylists and bringing their talents to the salon: Sharissa Stauffer, now A Borgata's owner, came on board in 2010; Sophia Stauffer followed in 2014.
As 2020 ended, the family decided on a more intimate, less hectic setting for their salon. They found the perfect place at Prescottonian Plaza, conveniently located just off Highway 69 and Walker Road, reopening there in March 2021.
